October 2023’s Top-Selling Console In The US Revealed, And It’s No Surprise Leave a comment

Sony continues to sit atop of the hardware sales charts in the US, as PS5 led the way for unit and dollar sales in October. PS5 also was first in both categories in September as well. Video game tracking firm Circana added that Xbox Series X|S came in second for dollar sales, while Nintendo Switch takes that spot for unit sales.

However, Circana notes that console spending last month saw a notable dip compared to October 2022. Overall, customers emptied $327 million out of their pockets for video game systems, but that was a 23% decline. In fact, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch each experienced double-digit drops in dollar sales.

It’s not all bad news on the hardware side, though. So far this year, spending on video game systems has reached $4 billion–a 6% increase over 2022 at the same time then. On the software side, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 was the best-selling game for October, with Super Mario Bros. Wonder right behind it. At No. 3 was another newly released game with Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

With new slim PS5 models arriving this month, Sony has a good chance to continue dominating hardware sales in the US. For more, check out GameSpot’s best PS5 games in 2023.
